“Posthumous Journey”

We don’t know when it’ll happen,
But we know that it’ll be—
Eventually we’ll take that trip,
And start our posthumous journey.

We take it only one time,
But then who knows the rest?
I guess we’ll go to where many think
And find life was a test—
Where if we failed life’s quizzes,
Pain is all that we will feel,
But really, it’s anyone’s guess,
Because no one’s here to squeal.

Whatever truly happens,
At this moment, I do not care,
Because unaware I’ll be till then,
But I hope that then is fair.

Fair to say, when the time does strike us,
That’s when we all may see,
But maybe not,
We may just rot—
Just end our short stories.
